The False Advertising of Scentsy Distributors

There has been blatantly false advertising on behalf of the Scentsy
product line.  It's extremely easy to refute.  The falsehood being
spread by the Scentsy people is also extremely deadly to specific
types of asthmatics.  It must stop.

The claim has repeatedly been that Scentsy's gaudy fragrance line
will not cause asthma attacks, because no candle wick is lit in the
process.  A bulb merely melts the paraffin which is regarded as
food grade.

Firstly, no one regularly eats paraffin for breakfast, lunch, or dinner,
as part of a balanced diet.  Thus, the food grade aspect of the parra-
fin is impertinent.  Secondly, unlit scented candles trigger asthma at-
tacks.  It's that simple.

It's not the paraffin that is of concern in the matter of scented candles
triggering asthma.   It's the chemicals and irritants added to the paraffin
which are.  It's the allergens and irritants which invade an asthmatic's
respiratory tract and assault it which are the pertinent elements.  Now,
if paraffin contains asthma-triggering irritants naturally within it, then
so be it.  However, scented candles have more allergens and irritants
than what is to be found in straight paraffin.

It was admitted that the Scentsy product line contains synthetic chemi-
cals.  Unlit synthetic chemicals of varying types trigger asthma.  More
specifically, they induce the inflammation that results in exacerbations
of either asthma, bronchial hyperresponsiveness, sinusitis, vocal cord
dysfunction, dermatitis, urticaria, and other assaults on the body.

Thirdly, the AMA, the AAAAI, and the American Lung Association
have long since stated that fragrances trigger asthma.  Essential oils
can trigger inflammatory reactions that lead to asthma attacks, too.
This is because they are distilled and concentrated chemical com-
pounds disproportionately placed in a given airspace.  This is also
because the chemicals within the essential oils induce the activa-
tion of at least one inflammatory mediator, depending on the oil.
Do not be deceived.  Essential oils aren't the nectar of the gods.

Fourthly, aromatic herbal components such as lavender and euca-
lyptus can trigger hideous bouts of shortness of breath.

Avoidance and AMA (CSA) Report 4 (A-98)

The act of avoiding asthma incitants (triggers) is a medical necessity.
As it applies to asthma, the AMA has stated:

Regardless of the efficiency of clinician assessment and pa-
tient self-monitoring, if the patient's exposure to irritants
or allergens to which he or she is sensitive is not reduced
or eliminated, symptom control and exacerbation rate may
not improve.  Formerly titled 'Environmental Control,' the
key points in this area logically include efforts by clinicians
to pinpoint causative agents and to provide specific advice
on how to avoid or reduce exposures to environmental or
dietary triggers and drugs that may provoke or exacerbate
symptoms." AMA Report 4, Council on Scientific Affairs (A-98)

This includes avoiding the extremely gaudy Scentsy product line.

The Scentsy people are expected to claim that natural substances
such as lavender are harmless, on account of them sprouting forth
from the earth.  The answer to this is that HEMLOCK is a natural
substance which sprouts forth from the earth.  So too is the Winter-
sweet used to make arrow tips poisoned, Rosary Pea, Castor Bean,
Wolfsbane, English Yew, Snakeroot, Strychnine Tree, Moonseed,
Daphne Plant, Oleander, andromedatoxin-bearing Rhododendron,
the hydrocyanic acid carrier known as Chokecherry, and the voice-
stealing Nightshade that leads to convulsions amongst the silenced.

Keep in mind that 5,000 to 6,000 people in the United States die
yearly from asthma.  Distributing the Scentsy product line will be
able to increase those deadly statistics.  Someone in the Scentsy
organization was willing to let asthmatics die for a buck.

There are Scentsy distributors who have lied and who must be put
out of business.  They're required to state warnings that their pro-
ducts and scented candles WILL trigger asthma:  1] while unlit,
2] while unlit at room temperature, 3] while unlit at chilly temper-
atures, 4] while unlit in sunlight, 5] while unlit in moonlight.

Scentsy distributors, in their false claims, have literally made them-
selves dangers to society.  As was previously stated, the AMA
has long since stated that fragrances of many kinds trigger asthma.
Synthetic chemicals of many kinds do so, also.

The Scentsy product line is a guaranteed asthma attack to all medi-
cally impaired individuals sensitive to any of the synthetic chemicals,
essential oils, and fragrances in Scentsy.  Scentsy is legal action wait-
ing to happen, only because Scentsy is an asthma attack waiting to
happen, and its sellers claimed the opposite of the truth.
